Health care organizations are increasingly turning to technology not as an end in itself but as a means to build operational models that can grow without sacrificing quality. Alejandro Torres, CEO of Auna México, argues that scalable operational models are the key to keeping standards high while bringing down costs per patient.
The approach places patients at the center of care design. Rather than layering technology on top of existing processes, the focus is on restructuring how services are delivered so that resources go further. Digital tools support scheduling, clinical workflows, and follow-up, which reduces administrative friction and allows clinical teams to spend more time on direct care.
Torres points out that scaling does not mean simply expanding capacity. It means creating repeatable systems that maintain consistency as volume grows. When operational models are designed well, quality indicators stay stable even as more patients are served, and the cost of each interaction falls.
This combination of patient-centric thinking and disciplined operations is changing how providers plan for the future. Technology enables the scale, but the patient experience sets the direction. According to Torres, organizations that align both will be better positioned to deliver accessible, affordable care over the long term.
