A Texas-based advanced manufacturing company has expanded its footprint with the acquisition of a Michigan firm that played a key role in NASA's latest moon mission. Advanced Integration Technology, headquartered in Plano, has purchased Futuramic Tool & Engineering, a 70-year-old company based in Warren, Michigan.
Futuramic specializes in aerospace tooling and assembly systems. Most recently, the company's work supported the Artemis III core stage integration at the Kennedy Space Center. That project is part of NASA's ongoing effort to return astronauts to the surface of the moon. The acquisition brings together two firms with deep experience in complex manufacturing for the aerospace and defense sectors.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Advanced Integration Technology said the purchase will strengthen its ability to serve customers in the aerospace industry, particularly in large-scale assembly and tooling. Futuramic's workforce and facilities in Michigan are expected to remain in place. The company has a long history of building precision equipment for aircraft and spacecraft programs.
Industry observers see the move as a sign of continued consolidation in aerospace manufacturing, where companies are looking to combine expertise to meet growing demand from both government and commercial space programs.
