PLYMOUTH, Vt. — For three days and two nights this spring, 27 students from Hartford High School embarked on a unique journey, stepping away from their devices and embracing an “unplugged” experience. This trip aimed to provide students with an opportunity to reconnect with nature and each other, free from the distractions of technology that dominate their daily lives.
During their time away, the students participated in various outdoor activities, including hiking, team-building exercises, and workshops focused on communication and collaboration. The absence of screens allowed them to engage more deeply with their surroundings and foster meaningful connections with their peers. Many students expressed surprise at how refreshing it felt to disconnect from their phones and social media, highlighting the importance of face-to-face interactions.
Teachers accompanied the students, guiding discussions on the value of mindfulness and the impact of technology on their lives. The trip not only offered a break from the digital world but also encouraged personal growth and reflection among the students. Overall, this experience served as a reminder of the joys of simplicity and the importance of being present in the moment.
