When calculators reached classrooms, critics insisted that students would forget how to do basic math. When the internet entered homes, parents feared it would rot young minds. Artificial intelligence is now the latest chapter in this long story. The arguments sound almost identical to the ones that came before. People worry about cheating, about lost jobs, about a generation that leans on machines instead of learning for themselves. These concerns are not foolish. They deserve serious thought. The real question is not which tools a person uses. It is whether they understand what they are doing with them. A calculator does not make someone bad at math.
