Lovable bolsters its AI software creation capacity, touts $400M funding round

The Swedish startup behind the popular AI software creation platform has closed a massive $400 million funding round, pushing its valuation to $13.3 billion. The company, known for letting users generate full web applications from simple text prompts, says the new capital will fuel an aggressive global push over the next twelve months.

Founded just a few years ago, the firm has seen explosive demand from non-programmers and small businesses who want to spin up prototypes, landing pages, or internal tools without writing a line of code. The latest investment round was led by a mix of existing venture partners and new institutional backers, though the company did not name all participants.

The CEO said the funds will go toward expanding the platform's infrastructure, hiring more engineers, and opening offices in key markets outside Europe. "We are not just building a tool. We are building the default way software gets created for millions of people," he said in a statement.

The company also hinted at upcoming features that will let users connect their generated apps to external databases and payment systems more easily. While the valuation jump is notable, it puts Lovable in direct competition with other AI coding assistants like Cursor and Replit, which have also raised large rounds recently.

Analysts point out that the real test will be whether Lovable can keep its user base engaged as the novelty of AI-generated code wears off and businesses demand more reliability and security. For now, the company says it serves over a million users and is adding tens of thousands each week. The new funding is expected to close by the end of the quarter.
