Apple has rolled out a fresh update for its experimental browser, Safari Technology Preview, now at version 247. This browser was first launched back in March 2016 and is designed for users who want to test upcoming features before they appear in the standard Safari release.
The main addition in this version is the Safari Model Context Protocol server, often shortened to MCP. This tool is built to help web developers work faster by improving how they debug and build websites. It gives developers a more direct way to inspect and manage the context of a web page while they are coding, which can cut down on time spent troubleshooting.
Safari Technology Preview runs separately from the main Safari browser, so users can install it without affecting their regular browsing setup. It is available for macOS Sequoia and macOS Sonoma. As with previous updates, this release includes fixes and performance improvements under the hood, though Apple did not list every change in detail.
Developers and early adopters can download the update through the Software Update mechanism in macOS or directly from Apple's developer site. The browser continues to serve as a testing ground for features that may eventually make their way into the standard Safari release.
