There is also a quieter struggle over credit. When a lab's code is used by thousands of developers, who gets the citation? When an AI system writes half the paper, is the student still the author? These are not theoretical puzzles. They are decisions being made now, in real time, often without clear guidance from university administrators.

He said it with a shrug, but the room went still.
